Democratisation, modernisation and globalisation – The EU and the hard tasks facing the three South Caucasus nations”

The European Policy Centre, a leading Brussels think-tank, has just published a policy brief prepared by LINKS Director, Dennis Sammut. Entitled “Democratisation, modernisation and globalisation – The EU and the hard tasks facing the three South Caucasus nations”, the paper looks at shortcomings that need to be addressed by Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia as they prepare to sign Association Agreements with the European Union later this year and suggests a ten point check list on how to gauge progress. The author says that by engaging selectively with the processes of democratisation, modernisation and globalisation the three countries have hampered and delayed much-needed reforms, and that it was now time to embrace change with enthusiasm.
